ELLS Workshop in Brussels Connected Early-Career Researchers with EU Institutions

The ELLS Research Support Office (RSO) organised a three-day intensive workshop titled "Navigating Brussels with ELLS 2025: How can the EU help you develop your scientific career?" from June 3–5, 2025. Held in Brussels, the event brought together 35 participants from eight universities and representing 18 nationalities.

The workshop highlighted not only the complexity of the European research ecosystem but also its potential to support ambitious and impactful scientific careers. Participants gained practical knowledge of proposal writing and evaluation criteria, discussed broader policy trends, and considered career paths beyond academia and industry. The vibrant, international atmosphere fostered meaningful dialogue, peer exchange, and lasting professional connections across disciplines and countries.

The course was designed for final-year PhD candidates and early postdoctoral researchers (up to 3 years post-PhD). With a limited number of places per university, the programme ensured an intensive, interactive experience for every participant.
