ELLS Institutional Learning Sessions are offered by at least one ELLS staff member (these in-person seminars or online webinars are focused on a specific topic, enabling the exchange of best practices within ELLS staff).

Title: Students in research - 29 May 2026, 10:00 – 11:00 am (Oslo time)

Short description: How can students gain hands-on research experience before their bachelor’s or master’s thesis while also receiving academic credits? In this webinar, NMBU will present Students in Research, an initiative that connects students with real research projects across academic fields. We will share how the initiative works in practice, how it was developed and implemented at NMBU, and what the future of the initiative will look like. The aim is to inspire other universities in the ELLS network to explore similar initiatives.

Title: Open Educational Resources: Sharing Knowledge, Opening Doors - 19 June, 9:00– 10:30 am (Vienna time)

Short description: Open Educational Resources (OER) as an important part of the Open Science movement make teaching and learning materials freely accessible, adaptable, and reusable. In this webinar, we will explore the basic principles of OER, their benefits for higher education, and practical ways to find, use, and share open materials. Participants will gain an overview of key concepts, licensing issues, OER-publishing and first steps toward integrating OER into their own teaching practice.

Target audience: Teachers, lecturers, instructional designers, e-learning staff, educational developers, students, and everyone interested in open education and digital teaching resources.

ELLS Institutional Learning Sessions' objectives:

  • promote structured institutional learning processes across partner universities, 
  • maintain and contribute to the alliance’s institutional memory, 
  • ensure systematic documentation of experiences, implementation practices, and lessons learned, 
  • facilitate cross-partner reflection and knowledge exchange during designated learning events, 
  • ensure that knowledge, experiences, and insights generated through joint activities are systematically shared, reflected upon, transmitted to Task Forces and Subject Areas, and embedded into institutional practices across partner universities.
