Learning on the EDGE : Summer School Planned for 2007
The project intends to design a summer school that will lead into a collaborative course where the students will learn how to:
- Assess and document self-produced geo-data references
- Access and comprehend documented quality of data from external sources (metadata)
- Assess and document the quality of expected results from GIS-based analysis
The quality standards aimed at, will consider spatial, temporal and thematic norms. The
norms will take its point of departure in the INSPIRE initiative (INfrastructure for SPatial
InfoRmation in Europe. As stated by one of the INSPIRE principles: ‘It should be easy to
discover which spatial data is available, to evaluate its fitness for purpose and to know which
conditions apply for its use.'
