Next call

Call for proposals 2005 will be published in early 2005. Further information: http://europa.eu.int/comm/education/programmes/eu-canada/call_en.html Deadline for application will be between March and April 2005.

Financial support

The EC provides funding for the direct use of the EC-partners and Human Resources Development Canada will provide funding for the use of the Canadian partners. In last call the total funding for a three-year project was up to 142 000 ^ for the EU-partners and $200,000 for the Canadian partners. The Commission supported a maximum of 75 % of the costs of the European consortium.

Objectives

To promote closer understanding between the peoples of the European Community and Canada, including broader knowledge of their languages, cultures and institutions. To improve the quality of human resource development, including acquisition of skills required to meet the challenges of the knowledge-based economy. To reach these objectives the programme supports innovative, multilateral, student-centred projects with the potential to stimulate substantive and long-lasting structural and transatlantic cooperation.

Requirements

The programme is based on the development of a consortium. Each partnership should include a minimum of three higher education or training institutions in three different EU Member states and in two different Canadian provinces . Forth and subsequent partners may be other types of organisations such as industry, business groups, NGOs, publishers, government departments, Chambers of commerce and research institutes may be partners, but the funding is intended only for the education and training institutions.
