European Field Excursion in Environmental Science (EFEES)

Course objectives
- to apply environmental science theory to problems observed in the field
- to get insight into different types of pollution, environmental effects, remediation, environmental policies and local management strategies in different parts of Europe
- to learn new tools for collecting, analysing, modelling and interpretation of environmental data
- to combine different sources of knowledge for solving of environmental problems
- to draw on different expertises for problem solving in a group consisting of students with different nationalities and with different backgrounds
This is an outstanding opportunity to see Environmental Science in a European context and meet other European Environmental Science students.
Course content
- Geomorphology of the Velje county
- Surplus of nitrate and ammonia from agriculture, N-balances in production
- Pesticides in relation to groundwater
- Eutrophication (phosphate) of fresh waters (lakes, streams, estuaries). Erosion and particle transport
- Wetlands, incl. restored wetlands
- Waste products and microcontaminants
- Hot spot pollution
- Nature management plans for farms
