2026 marks a turning point for our ELLS alliance. At the end of a participatory process carried out with the entire ELLS community, we are delighted to present the new visual identity of ELLS Universities — designed to reflect who we are, what we stand for, and where we are headed. 

 

From a network to an alliance 

This visual rebrand reflects a major strategic evolution. In 2022, the member universities collectively decided to move beyond the network model and build a more integrated, more ambitious alliance — driven by the ambitions of the SUSTAIN-LIFE project. Awarded the Seal of Excellence by the European Commission, that project set a clear direction. It is in that momentum that our new identity takes shape — along with the name that carries it forward: the EuroLeague of Life Sciences Universities. 

 

The mosaic of life 

Three symbols make up the logo: the human, the living world, and the planet. Distinct and autonomous, it is their combination that creates the community — a whole greater than the sum of its parts. The mosaic evokes European diversity, active cooperation, and the interconnectedness of life. Each institution brings its own singularity. Together, they form ELLS Universities. 

 

A collective endeavour 

This rebrand is the result of a participatory process led by the support team Marketing and Communication, with the aim of building a distinctive brand platform in service of the alliance's visibility and cooperation. The graphic translation was carried out by Élodie Guillouët of Institut Agro, whose contribution gave visual form to the collective vision of ELLS Universities. 

 

This new identity accompanies an alliance in full motion. The ongoing application to the European University Initiative, the doctoral programme DOC-BEST, the shared micro-credentials framework, and the student research project ELLS STAR — these are just some of the projects that concretely embody what ELLS Universities is building for tomorrow.
