ELLS Prize for Excellent Master Theses

The ELLS Prize honours excellent Master theses in the area of life sciences written in English language. Eligible are students of ELLS universities who actively participated in ELLS study exchange programmes. Students of the University of Hohenheim must have acquired 18 ECTS of their MSc programme at other ELLS universities. Students of other ELLS universities must have acquired 18 ECTS of their MSc programme at the University of Hohenheim.
All representatives of preliminarily
or finally approved ELLS subject areas have the right for nominations.
Deadline for submission of nominations is 31 August of each calendar year for theses that have been completed during the previous year.
A nomination has to include the following documents:
- Complete MSc thesis preferably in electronic form
- Nomination letter by an ELLS Subject Area representative
- Short CV
- Official transcript of records of the study abroad period
- Two recommendation letters (supervisor and external examiner of another ELLS university)
The ELLS Task Force reviews the nominations and recommends the recipients. The final decision on the recipients and the amount of the individual prizes is taken by the rector of the University of Hohenheim. The total prize amount of 5.000 € p.a. can be divided among up to 5 winners.
The award ceremony is held at the yearly autumn conference of the Euroleague for Life Sciences.
